True Colours

Adam is alone.
He’s just lost another job and the future looks bleak.
Future? What future?
Join Adam as he is forced to confront his present and consider his past.

True Colours, Brief Candle’s play about choice, decision making and self-realisation, takes its’ audience on a journey through the many options and bewildering choices facing 14 – 19 year olds as they navigate the complex world of education, training and work .

“It shows what teenagers go through”
(Y10 student)

Through humour, audience interaction, lively dialogue and engaging, credible stories True Colours encourages audiences to reflect on the necessity of making well-informed choices and realistic decisions.

What makes a successful learner?
And what prevents it?
How can we make sure we get where we want to be, and that it’s really the best place for us?

“It was fun! It showed you about life and choices.”
(Y10 student)

True Colours was commissioned as part of the Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire and Derby City 14-19 Pathfinder Initiative. It has also been performed in Cambridge, Coventry, Wigan, Doncaster and Nottingham.

“Thank you very much.  What a great day.  The cast were more than fantastic.  We had lots of positive feedback from students and during the play you could have heard a pin drop.”
(Student Support Manager - University of Derby College, Buxton)
