Brief Candle Theatre was established in 2002 by Actor and Director David Shimwell and Writer Paul Whitfield. Since then the company has quickly established itself as a leading provider of high quality Theatre for young audiences in Derbyshire and across the East Midlands.

We have an enviable reputation for excellence, based on positive, productive relationships with all our partners, attention to detail and an unbending commitment to thoroughness and quality, both artistically and educationally in everything we do.

In five years we have given over 2000 performances to 100,000 young people and adults in Derbyshire, Wigan, Lincolnshire, Rotherham, Doncaster, Peterborough, Edinburgh, Coventry and Cambridge.

We have the proven capacity to undertake all aspects of delivery from liaising with venues and booking tours to producing teaching/support materials and casting and production.
