Brief Candle Theatre was established in 2002 by Actor and Director David Shimwell and Writer Paul Whitfield. Since then the company has established itself as a leading provider of high quality Theatre and theatre workshops for young audiences in the UK.

The company has earned a reputation  for excellence, based on positive, productive relationships with all our partners, attention to detail and an unbending commitment to thoroughness and quality, both artistically and educationally in everything we do.

Since 2002 we have delivered literally thousands of performances and workshops to 200,000 young people and adults throughout the UK.

We have performed to audiences in Derbyshire, Wigan, Rotherham, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Brighton, Cumbria and Edinburgh.

We have the proven capacity to undertake all aspects of delivery including

• writing of quality original scripts

• casting and production
• liaising with venues
• booking tours
• production of teaching/support materials

Brief Candle Theatre is an Equity/ITC Approved Manager member of the ITC and is proud to be an excellent employer. We work with trained, professional actors and actresses to produce theate that engages, entertains and educates.

Our training and rehearsal process fully prepares company members for the rigours and range of situations they are likely to face working in an educational setting. Many of our company return to work with us again and again, and many go on to careers in teaching and education.
